French Miniatures
This collection of French Miniatures contains pieces from 4 different composers. The first, Florent Schmitt, studied both with Massenet and Fauré. The second, Darius Milhaud learnt his art at the Paris Conservatoire and studied at various times with Gédalge, Widor, d’Indy and Dukas. Charles Koechlin came from an Alsation family living at Mulhouse. In 1889, he started seven years of study at the Paris Conservatoire, where his teachers were Massenet, Taudou, Gédalge, and later, Fauré. Jacques Ibert started his education at the Collège Rollinhe where he was a student of Emile Pessard, Ravel’s own harmony teacher.
